The LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course hosted 4,300 runners for Nike Cross Regionals Event this weekend. One of Nike’s largest national events for 2024, the event brings runners and families from Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. An estimated 10,000 people attended the event with an economic impact of $6M for the Terre Haute community.

Two-time Olympian runner Valerie Constein came out to watch the race and sign autographs. Valerie noted in her comments that Terre Haute’s course is one of the best because of being purely dedicated to cross country - something that is unique in the cross country world. 🏃🏾‍♀️ 🏃

500 high school cross country runners from across Indiana came out for the IHSAA State Finals, hosted by Terre Haute South High School, to compete for the championship title at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

It was a beautiful day for two great races with thousands of spectators! Mayor Brandon Sakbun, Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard and the Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Museum directors were on hand to welcome visitors.
